What books we sell

We are a small independent bookshop hidden away off the market square in Newark's town centre with terrible timing.

We have picked our books mostly based on If we had unlimited time, would we read it? Though we have plenty of best sellers and new releases (where we can afford them) too.

We have a range of fiction with a focus on interesting contemporary fiction, translated, fantasy, Sci-fi, historical fiction and graphic novels. As well as books covering mystery/thrillers and romance.

For non fiction we concentrate on history, including world, British and local history, natural history as well more contemporary books on sociology, economics and politics.

We also have smaller, though carefully picked, sections on travel, nature and the outdoors, folklore and art & culture.

We have a variety of children's fiction covering a range of ages and reading abilities.

And we have a section highlighting the works of local writers across multiple genres.

  • We use bookshop.org for our online shop. It’s an easy way to discover books, not just the ones we stock, and still support independent bookshops like us. No account or subscription needed.

Stocking your book.

Because we are only a small shop, we are limited on space and the ability to buy new books.

We have a small section highlighting the works of local writers.

Please contact us by email with any enquiries.

  • Please note that we do not wish to stock any work generated using AI in part or as a whole, or using AI images inside or on the cover. Please consider this before you enquire about stocking your book.

Meet the team

Sam the Cat

With an encyclopaedia of excuses why he can’t make it in, head of moral support and "hard at work" in the background.

Not much of a reader, but books can make good scratching posts.

Favourite book, the one he's sitting on right now.

PD the human (picture not representative)

The one you'll see in the shop.

Didn't think it through when opening a bookshop that a love of reading would mean spending most of their time resisting the urge to work their way through the stock, especially the fantasy section.

Doesn't picture well, so here's another of Sam in his natural habitat.

Where to find us
