About the shop
We are a small independent bookshop hidden away near the market place in Newark's town centre.
Our evolving stock mostly concentrates on,
Fiction (A mix of Contemporary & Speculative, Translated, Classics, Historical, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Mystery) with what we hope is a varied and interesting range,
Graphic Novels, with a range of genres.
and
History (Local, Natural, British, World, Social, Economic and LGBTQ+) or a general non-fiction section.
We also have a small Children's Fiction section covering a range of reading abilities.
And a small section highlighting the work of Local Writers.
- We use bookshop.org for our online shop. It’s an easy way to discover books, not just the ones we stock, and still support independent bookshops like us. No account or subscription needed.
Meet the team
Sam the Cat
With an encyclopaedia of excuses why he can’t make it in, head of moral support and "hard at work" in the background.
Not much of a reader and doesn't like that books distract from him, but they can make good scratching post substitutes.
Favourite book, the one he's sitting on right now.
Paige the human (picture not representative)
The one you'll see in the shop awkwardly trying to look busy.
Didn't think it through when opening a bookshop that a love of reading would mean spending most of their time resisting the urge to work their way through the stock, especially the fantasy section.
Doesn't picture well, so here's another of Sam in his natural habitat.
Where to find us
Find us in Newark's town center, a two minute walk from the church and market place.
At 12 Queens Head Court opposite the violin school, through the archway, and alongside Bookwise for second hand books.
