About the shop

We are a small independent bookshop hidden away near the market place in Newark's town centre.

Our evolving stock mostly concentrates on,

Fiction (Contemporary & Speculative, Translated, Classics, Historical, Romance, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Mystery) with what we hope is a varied and interesting range,

Graphic Novels

and

History (Local, Natural, British, World, Social, Economic and LGBTQ+) so a general non-fiction section.

We also have some Children's Fiction covering a range of ages and reading abilities.

And a section highlighting the work of Local Writers.

  • We use bookshop.org for our online shop. It’s an easy way to discover books, not just the ones we stock, and still support independent bookshops like us. No account or subscription needed.

Stocking your book.

We have a small section highlighting the works of local writers.

But we are only a small shop and are limited on both space and the ability to buy new books.

We would usually take books on sale or return with 65% to the writer and 35% to the shop.

As we are a small team of one, please contact us by email with any enquiries and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Please note that we do not wish to stock anything produced partially or fully using AI, this includes AI images, as these programs are built on the stolen work of writers, artists and exploited labour. Please consider this before you enquire about stocking your book.

Sam the Cat

With an encyclopaedia of excuses why he can’t make it in, head of moral support and "hard at work" in the background.

Not much of a reader and doesn't like that books distract from him, but they can make good scratching post substitutes.

Didn't think it through when opening a bookshop that a love of reading would mean spending most of their time resisting the urge to work their way through the stock, especially the fantasy section.
